Jakarta – Preparations for the 2026 Eid exodus involve more than just vehicle maintenance and driver fitness for electric vehicle users. Planning charging station locations is crucial before traversing the Trans Java Toll.

PLN has previously committed to replacing charging units with higher capacity to accelerate the charging process and improve vehicle turnover efficiency.

“PLN is committed to replacing SPKLU units that are still 22 or 40 kilowatts with 180 kilowatts, so hopefully during the exodus, whether for Chinese New Year or Eid, there won’t be any significant queues,” said Edwin Nugraha Putra, Director of PLN Transmission and System Planning, in Tangerang recently.

Based on current data, a total of 53 rest areas along the Trans Java Toll have been equipped with charging stations of various power capacities.

At Trans Java rest areas, charging stations are available ranging from alternating current (AC) charging to direct current (DC) fast charging. This allows users to tailor charging according to their travel conditions and vehicle battery capacity.

Nevertheless, travellers still need to plan carefully. The number of charging units at each rest area remains limited, so queuing is highly likely, especially during peak exodus and return periods during Eid.
