Lampung Police have prepared a traffic management strategy featuring a delay system to anticipate congestion during the 2026 Eid homecoming and return journeys around Bakauheni Port. Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helfi Assegaf explained that this scheme operates situationally, applied according to vehicle volumes in the field.

“We are preparing the delay system as a control measure. If congestion reaches yellow alert level with queues extending to kilometre 4, vehicles are directed to wait at toll rest areas, parking zones, or buffer zones on the central, eastern, and western routes heading to Bakauheni,” Assegaf said in Bandar Lampung on Saturday.

The control pattern follows three-level indicators: green, yellow, and red. Additionally, ferry ticket screening is conducted at Lampung Toll rest areas (at kilometre 49 and kilometre 20) and arterial road sections, ensuring smooth processing and assisting travellers without tickets before arriving at the port. Lampung Police urged homebound travellers to plan journeys carefully, ensure ferry tickets, and follow officers’ instructions for safety, security, order, and traffic efficiency.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi emphasised the importance of disaster mitigation related to adverse weather in several Indonesian regions during the 2026 Eid transport period. “We have prepared all transport modes, but weather through April still has potential for rain. We continue coordinating with the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency for monitoring and anticipation,” Dudy said in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Saturday.

Accompanied by West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, the Transport Minister held a coordination meeting for 2026 Eid transport preparations with provincial and district/city governments and stakeholders. Iqbal confirmed the readiness of air, sea, and land transport in West Nusa Tenggara, with accelerated road repairs one week before Eid according to central directives. “Everything is ready, we support smooth homecoming journeys with safety and security for travellers,” he said.

Dudy also gave special attention to the 2026 Eid transport operations in Gorontalo Province, with predictions of 340,000 homebound travellers to that region. In a coordination meeting at the Old VIP Terminal of Djalaludin Airport in Gorontalo on Saturday, he stated that this figure is quite significant and must be well-managed for safety and efficiency.

“Gorontalo has special characteristics related to Eid mobility, both at Djalaludin Airport and at ferry crossings. We cannot overlook this,” Dudy said. The Transport Ministry’s national survey predicts total population movement of 143.91 million people (50.60 per cent of Indonesia’s population), down 1.75 per cent from the previous year, but still requiring anticipation of surges similar to 2025.
