If previously shopping trends tended to be impulsive and oriented towards cheap prices, now they are starting to shift to being more planned and considering quality as well as the value of goods.
The increase in the number of consumers who shop smartly is shown through data from Lazada Indonesia, which records an almost 50% year-on-year increase in the first quarter of 2024.
Based on that data, the category that became one of the main drivers of this figure is the beauty category.
According to the Head of Business Growth & Operations at Lazada Indonesia, Amelia Tediarjo, this trend occurs because consumers today are increasingly bold in investing in high-value products as a way to improve their quality of life.
“They (consumers) now have aspirations to upgrade their lifestyle, so a more aspirational lifestyle, so they aspire to have a better life,” Amelia explained to the media at the LazTalks event, at Restaurant Seribu Rasa, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/04).
One of them is through the LazMall channel, which presents products from official brands with guarantees of authenticity and quality that have undergone strict curation processes.
Amelia explained that Lazada, especially LazMall, does not open access to all brands freely, so the products circulating truly meet the set standards.
The selection process consists of document verification to business permits carried out strictly by Lazada’s internal team.
To maintain and increase consumer trust, Lazada also provides a 100% guarantee that products sold on LazMall are authentic.
Amelia emphasised that if consumers find that the received product does not meet standards and is not original, Lazada offers options for returns and refunds in accordance with applicable provisions.
“100 percent original products, returns, and also fast delivery, so we are indeed very committed to providing a trusted shopping experience, especially for branded goods and beauty,” Amelia concluded.
