Pregnant Woman in South Tangerang Becomes Suspect After Reporting Alleged Domestic Violence
Tangerang Selatan, Kompas.com - A pregnant woman identified by the initials MS in South Tangerang City has been named a suspect after reporting alleged domestic violence (KDRT) allegedly committed by her former husband. MS’s sister, M, explained that the incident began on 17 April 2023 during a dispute over plans to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with her parents. According to family members and a domestic worker, the quarrel, which started at home, continued in a car. MS, who was seven months pregnant at the time, said she was beaten, with injuries confirmed by a medical examination. “MS was around seven months pregnant at the time, and the violence obviously threatened her life and that of the foetus,” M said on Tuesday night, 3 March 2026, quoted from Tribunbanten.com. After the incident, MS reported the alleged KDRT to the Ciputat Timur Police with report number LP/162/B/IV/2023. The report was later forwarded to the Motor Vehicle Unit of the South Tangerang Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate. However, a day after the report was filed, her ex-husband reported back to Polda Metro Jaya with a similar accusation. During the investigation, MS produced a domestic worker as a witness and an expert witness to bolster her report. But, according to M, statements from two factual witnesses were allegedly twisted during the examination. He also said that an expert witness from MS’s side was not included in the Berita Acara Pemeriksaan (BAP). “Only the expert witness from the ex-husband’s side was listed,” he said.
