Prediction of 15 Traffic Congestion Points During Eid Travel in West Java and Alternative Routes

The Eid exodus in 2026 is predicted to experience significant congestion in West Java, which serves as a main transit province connecting vehicles from Jakarta towards Central and East Java. The government projects the peak Eid travel period will fall on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, three days before Eid (H-3).

The West Java Transportation Department is warning of potential hydrometeorological disasters including landslides on southern routes (Garut, Tasikmalaya, Pangandaran) due to predicted high rainfall in March 2026. Travellers on the northern coast route have also been warned to be cautious of tidal flooding in coastal areas.

To avoid congestion on main roads, travellers can utilise alternative routes that will be made available during the peak travel period.

The West Java Regional Police Command is deploying 26,692 combined personnel for Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 to manage the Eid exodus and return traffic. The Jakarta Provincial Government has temporarily suspended odd-even vehicle restrictions on 26 main roads during the Eid holiday period.

State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) projects that passenger transport volume during the 2026 Eid period will reach 4.9 million passengers. PT PLN West Java is deploying 4,993 personnel to ensure reliable electricity supply during the period, with supporting equipment also mobilised.
