Preachers get airtime in KL
KUALA LUMPUR (DPA): Malaysia's state-run television and radio networks may soon give airtime to religious leaders from all faiths, but they can only talk about social issues and not religion, reports said yesterday.
The multireligious talk shows will be aimed solely at discussing how to combat social problems affecting Malaysian youths and how to foster good moral values.
Mohamed met officials from the local joint council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Sikhism on Monday to discuss the format for the programs which would be submitted to the Information Ministry for study next month.
Islam is the official religion in multiracial Malaysia where just over half the 20 million population is Moslem Malay, with the rest mostly Chinese and Indians.
