Pre-trial Motion Rejected, KPK to Summon Gus Yaqut as Suspect
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will summon former Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, known as Gus Yaqut, as a suspect in a pilgrimage quota corruption case this week.
The summons follows a ruling by the Jakarta South District Court rejecting Gus Yaqut’s pre-trial motion challenging his suspect status in the pilgrimage quota corruption case.
“In the near future, we will be summoning the individual in question. They will be summoned first,” said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu at Jakarta South District Court on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Asep did not provide specific details about when Yaqut would be summoned, only stating that the summons would occur this week. “Of course, he will be examined as a suspect, because his current status is indeed that of a suspect. He is being summoned. This week,” he said.
The Jakarta South District Court rejected the pre-trial motion filed by former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, also known as Gus Yaqut, regarding his suspect status in an alleged pilgrimage quota corruption case being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Single judge Sulistyo Muhamad Dwi Putro announced the ruling during a hearing at Jakarta South District Court on Wednesday, 11 March 2026 afternoon.
“In the principal matter, we reject the pre-trial motion of the petitioner in its entirety,” declared judge Sulistyo when reading the verdict.
With this ruling, the suspect status of the former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut in the pilgrimage quota corruption case remains valid.
