Pre-trial Motion Fails: Richard Lee to Be Re-examined as Suspect Tomorrow
Jakarta, VIVA – Following the failure of his pre-trial motion, suspect Dr Richard Lee (DRL) is scheduled to undergo further examination at Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) headquarters on Thursday, 19 February 2026.
The examination relates to a case involving alleged violations of consumer protection law and the Health Act in connection with beauty products.
“Thursday will see the continued examination of the suspect DRL,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Chief Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, as quoted on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
A summons has been issued to the individual concerned. The examination will be conducted at the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of Jakarta Metropolitan Police at 10:00 Western Indonesian Time. According to Budi, Richard Lee’s legal team has confirmed they will attend to accompany their client during the examination.
In addition, police have issued a travel ban against Richard Lee. The ban is effective from 10 February 2026 to 1 March 2026, a period of 20 days.
Police have affirmed that Richard Lee’s designation as a suspect was carried out in accordance with investigation procedures in a proportional, professional and accountable manner at the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
“Should it be deemed possible and necessary by investigators, a further travel ban of six months will be sought,” said Budi.
Previously, it was reported that the lengthy examination of beauty doctor Richard Lee as a suspect was halted midway through. After nearly 10 hours of legal proceedings at Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters, Richard Lee complained of health issues and requested that the examination be temporarily suspended.
Richard Lee was known to have arrived at Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, at approximately 13:00 Western Indonesian Time. One hour later, investigators began examining him regarding alleged violations in the health and consumer protection sectors.
The examination proceeded in marathon fashion, interspersed with several breaks. The then Head of the Public Information Sub-division of Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Reonald Simanjuntak, explained that the examination was temporarily halted for a rest period before being resumed.
“At 18:00 it was temporarily halted for a rest, and then resumed at 19:00. Then at 19:00 the examination continued and was only completed at 22:00,” Reonald told reporters on Thursday, 8 January 2026.
