Pre-trial Motion by KontraS Activist Andrie Yunus Partially Granted, Judge Orders Police to Proceed with Case

The South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) has partially granted the pre-trial motion filed by Andrie Yunus, an activist from the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), regarding an alleged assault case. “Granted the applicant’s motion in part,” stated the Presiding Judge of the South Jakarta District Court, Suparna, during the pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

The judge ruled that the applicant possesses the legal standing and the right to file the pre-trial motion for the case in question. Furthermore, the judge ordered the respondent to proceed with the legal process regarding police report number LP/A/222/III/2026/Satreskrim/Restro Jakpus/Polda Metro Jaya, dated 13 March 2026. The court also assigned the court costs to the respondent, amounting to zero.

Previously, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) filed the pre-trial motion at the South Jakarta District Court concerning the alleged acid attack against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The motion was filed against the Metro Jaya Regional Police, as they were deemed to have halted the investigation into the case. Currently, there are two active reports within the Metro Jaya Regional Police: a Model A Police Report initiated by the police, and a Model B Police Report previously filed with the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) and subsequently transferred to the Metro Jaya Regional Police. The motion was submitted because the investigation process for the Model A Police Report was considered stalled, with no significant developments or follow-up in the law enforcement process.
