Indramayu Deputy Regent Syaefudin is facing a new development in a case involving alleged corruption in housing and transport allowances for the Indramayu Regional Legislative Council (DPRD).

After his pre-trial challenge was rejected, the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) said it could take coercive measures if Syaefudin again fails to respond to investigators’ summonses.

The prosecutors’ office confirmed that legal proceedings against Syaefudin are continuing. No order to terminate the investigation (SP3) has been issued following the failure of his pre-trial challenge at the Bandung District Court.

Nur Sricahyawijaya, head of the office’s Legal Information Section, said investigators were completing the administrative documents in line with the judge’s considerations in the pre-trial ruling.

“The legal process is ongoing and the case has not been halted. The applicant’s pre-trial challenge was rejected, and the special crimes investigation team is currently completing the administrative documents in accordance with the judge’s considerations,” Nur said on Friday (9 October 2026), during a meeting with the central board of the Indonesian Legal Students Movement (GMHI).

The threat of coercive measures is linked to Syaefudin’s failure to attend an earlier questioning summons. The West Java prosecutors’ office said investigators were still giving the suspect an opportunity to comply with a properly issued summons.

However, if he fails to respond to as many as three summonses without an acceptable reason, investigators may consider further action.

“If, after being properly summoned up to three times, the suspect remains uncooperative, the investigation team will certainly consider taking coercive measures,” Nur said.

Syaefudin’s next steps following the pre-trial ruling are now under scrutiny. The court had previously ruled that the West Java prosecutors’ office’s decision to name him a suspect was lawful and properly grounded.

The ruling was delivered by Bandung District Court single judge Dede Halim on Friday (2 October 2026). Syaefudin was named a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving housing and transport allowances for the Indramayu DPRD during the 2022–2025 budget years.

The alleged state losses in the case are said to total Rp18 billion. The case relates to Syaefudin’s tenure as Indramayu DPRD speaker from 2019 to 2024. Two other people, identified by the initials IM and AF, have also been named suspects.

During the investigation, the West Java prosecutors’ office also asked immigration authorities to prevent Syaefudin from travelling abroad, a request made after he was named a suspect.
