PRD activists detained
SEMARANG: Seven members of the outlawed Democratic People's Party (PRD) were arrested by police in Ungaran on Thursday while holding a clandestine meeting.
Central Java Police Chief Maj. Gen. Harimas said that pending the outcome of the investigation, some of the activists might be sent to Jakarta for further questioning.
He said two of them -- I Gusti Agung Anom Astika and Wilson -- were believed to be core members of the PRD's executive board and had long been on the authorities' wanted list.
The others -- Wirayanti, Aan Rusdianto, Hari Sutanto, Nurleili Huda and Stevanus -- were members of student and labor organizations under the PRD. (har)
