Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno has dismissed reports that he is ill and will resign from his ministerial post.
“No, I’m not ill, and I’m not resigning. I’m still on duty, still on duty,” Pratikno told reporters on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
Pratikno explained that he is currently working to tackle forest and land fires (karhutla) in the Mount Bromo area of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS).
He said he had already departed for Bromo to address the fire issue since early this morning.
“I’m in Bromo because there is a fire. So this morning, very early, I left at around 6.30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time for Malang and then on to Bromo. We are coordinating to accelerate the firefighting efforts in Bromo,” he said.
Earlier, Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi denied reports that Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno was ill and would resign from his position.
Prasetyo explained that to date there has been no information regarding such a condition.
He even admitted he had not heard any reports suggesting Pratikno was ill or planning to leave the Menko PMK post.
“What is that again? Who said that? I haven’t heard, I haven’t heard,” Prasetyo told reporters at Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
Prasetyo stressed that Pratikno is in good health so far. He dismissed reports that Pratikno was ill.
“He is healthy, as far as I know he is healthy. There is no news that he is ill,” he said.
Prasetyo also firmly denied the issue of Pratikno’s resignation. According to him, no resignation has been submitted by Pratikno to date.
“What resignation? He’s not even ill, let alone resigning. There has been none yet,” he explained.
