Prasetyo: 'Director' or 'Supervisor' Title in BGN Structure Not an Issue, Focus on Function
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has urged the public not to become trapped in the debate over whether the post should be called a Supervisory Board or a Steering Board within the structure of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
He said the terms Steering Board and Supervisory Board within the BGN’s organisational structure could well carry a similar meaning, particularly regarding the duties to be carried out. “Whether it’s Steering or Supervisory, what matters is the function later on,” Prasetyo said at the DPR, MPR and DPD complex on Thursday, 23 July 2026.
Referring to the BGN’s organisational provisions under Presidential Regulation No. 83 of 2024, the document only states that the BGN’s leadership structure consists of a Steering Board, a Head and a Deputy Head. There is no Supervisory Board.
Another regulation, Presidential Regulation No. 115 of 2025 on the Governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme, which Prabowo signed in November 2025, also does not provide for any changes to the BGN’s organisational structure.
However, according to Prasetyo, if the regulation governing the BGN’s organisational governance only mentions the job title of Steering Board, that provision need not be questioned. “If the duties accord with what is intended, there’s no problem either,” said the Gerindra Party politician.
The plan to establish a BGN Supervisory Board was announced by Nanik Sudaryati Deyang in tandem with the announcement of her resignation as BGN Head.
In a post on her personal social media account, Nanik claimed that Prabowo had asked that the position of Chair of the BGN Supervisory Board be held by her. According to Nanik, the role could still be carried out whilst she undergoes treatment. “What matters is that it doesn’t involve handling money — I have severe trauma about that,” Nanik said on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
Nanik resigned as BGN Head on the grounds that she wishes to focus on cardiac treatment. President Prabowo Subianto has appointed and sworn in a new BGN Head, Sudaryono, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
