Prasetyo: 'Director' or 'Supervisor' Title in BGN Structure Not an Issue, Focus on Function

Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Prasetyo has urged the public not to get caught up in a debate over the terms ‘Steering Committee’ (Dewan Pengarah) or ‘Supervisory Board’ (Dewan Pengawas) within the agency’s structure. He said the terms Steering Committee and Supervisory Board in the BGN’s organisational structure could have similar meanings, particularly regarding the duties to be carried out. ‘Steering Committee or Supervisory Board, what matters is the function later,’ Prasetyo said at the DPR, MPR, and DPD Complex on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Referring to the BGN’s organisational provisions in Presidential Regulation Number 83 of 2024, it only states that the BGN leadership structure consists of a Steering Committee, Head, and Deputy Head. There is no Supervisory Board. Another regulation, Presidential Regulation Number 115 of 2025 concerning Governance of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme, signed by Prabowo in November 2025, also does not regulate changes to the BGN’s organisational structure. However, according to Prasetyo, if the regulation governing the BGN’s organisational management only mentions the nomenclature of the Steering Committee position, this provision does not need to be disputed. ‘If the duties are in accordance with what is desired, there is no problem either,’ said the Gerindra Party politician. The plan to form a BGN Supervisory Board was conveyed by Nanik Sudaryati Deyang alongside the announcement of her resignation as Head of the BGN. In a post on her personal social media account, Nanik claimed that Prabowo had asked her to take up the position of Chair of the BGN Supervisory Board. According to Nanik, this position could still be carried out while undergoing medical treatment. ‘As long as it does not involve handling money, I swear I have acute trauma,’ Nanik said on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. Nanik resigned as Head of the BGN, citing a need to focus on heart treatment. President Prabowo Subianto has appointed and inaugurated a new BGN Head, Sudaryono, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
