Pramono's Response After SDN Srengseng Sawah Receives Bomb Threat

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that teaching activities at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa, Jakarta, will proceed as normal. The decision was announced after specialist anti-terror units conducted checks following a bomb threat at the South Jakarta primary school.

“I have decided because the Gegana team has been deployed, and Densus 88 has also been deployed,” Pramono told reporters at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Monday, 13 July 2026.

Pramono said safety is the government’s top priority. However, based on the results of checks by the anti-terror team, no dangerous indications were found. “It turned out there was nothing as reported,” he said.

Nevertheless, Pramono urged all parties to remain vigilant. He also requested that the police thoroughly investigate the incident.

On the first day of the new school term today, a bomb threat was received by SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi. The threat came from a short message on the WhatsApp application received by a first-grade teacher and an administrative staff member.

In the message, the sender claimed to have placed bombs at eleven locations within the school. The school authorities subsequently reported the threatening message to the police. The Gegana and Densus 88 teams then arrived, evacuated students and teachers, and swept the premises. No objects resembling bombs were found.

Several hours later, the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, announced that the perpetrator had been arrested and taken to the South Jakarta Police headquarters. “The investigation is currently being deepened by investigators,” Budi said at his office on Monday.

According to Budi, the perpetrator, identified by the initials MY, aged 34, is a resident living not far from the school. Police are still investigating the motive behind the bomb threat message.
