Pramono Whispers to Cak Imin: Everyone Who Leaves Their Party Never Becomes Great
Jakarta, VIVA – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo attended the series of events marking PKB’s 28th anniversary in the Kota Tua area on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. In his welcoming speech, Pramono described the General Chairman of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin, as a great leader.
He also reminisced about first getting to know Cak Imin in 1999, when the two were often present at the same discussions.
“First, I will begin with the events of 1999 to 2004. Even before that, Cak Imin was still called Cak Imin back then; now he is the General Chairman. During the 1998 student movement, the two of us were often together at various discussion forums,” said Pramono.
Not only that, Pramono also noted that PKB was one of the parties that nominated PDIP General Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri for Vice President in the 1999 general election.
“It was that very personal closeness that later led to the events surrounding Ibu Megawati becoming Vice President at that time,” said Pramono.
“At that time, at Ibu Megawati’s request, I and, from PKB, Mbak Khofifah — because the events were full of tension — long story short, alhamdulillah, Ibu Mega became Vice President, and it was PKB that nominated her, one hundred per cent PKB,” he continued.
Pramono also stated that PKB’s achievements have improved under Cak Imin’s leadership, because, he said, Cak Imin’s leadership has been well tested.
“PKB’s achievements and also Pak Muhaimin Iskandar’s leadership have been thoroughly proven,” he said.
The PDIP politician also admitted that he had whispered to Cak Imin, telling him that everyone who leaves their own party will never become a great figure.
He asserted that not only in PKB, there are several parties who have left PDIP as well.
“Earlier I whispered to him, ‘Cak, do you remember? Everyone who leaves their party never becomes great.’ In PDI Perjuangan there are such people, in PKB too. And it is precisely this that makes things ever stronger,” said Pramono.
Pramono did not forget to offer his congratulations to Cak Imin on PKB’s 28th anniversary. He expressed his hope that PKB can deliver progress in the years to come.
