Pramono Welcomes Extra BTS Concert as Proof of Global Trust in Jakarta
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has said the additional schedule for K-pop group BTS’s concert in Jakarta is a positive sign of global trust in the capital. According to him, the presence of world-class stages will have a positive impact on Jakarta’s economy. He conveyed this whilst attending the press conference for the Jakarta Kreatif Festival (JKF) 2026 at the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Central Jakarta on Friday (19/6/2026). Pramono said Jakarta is now increasingly trusted to host various international-scale events. One indicator is the extension of the BTS concert schedule, which was originally held for two days and has now become three. “What I am pleased about is that people now have trust, confidence in Jakarta. For example, tomorrow, even though it is in December, there is K-pop, the world’s K-pop star, BTS, which used to be only two days, 26-27 December, because Jakarta is trusted, one day is added, becoming the 29th. So 26, 27, 29,” said Pramono. According to Pramono, the promoter’s decision to add a concert day shows Jakarta is considered capable of providing a sense of safety and comfort for hosting international events. “This shows that one of the main measures is when the world’s stages are present in Jakarta and they feel safe, comfortable, and so on,” he said. Pramono judged that the presence of international entertainment not only impacts the entertainment sector but also drives the city’s economic wheels more broadly. From the hospitality, transportation, and culinary sectors to micro-enterprises, all will feel the benefits. “Then certainly the contribution to Jakarta’s economy will be significant,” he said. On the same occasion, Pramono also spoke about the importance of the creative economy as a new engine for Jakarta’s economic growth. He mentioned that the development of the digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI) plays a role in changing the face of major cities in the world. Therefore, Pramono encouraged activities supporting the creative economy sector, such as the Jakarta Kreatif Festival, to be held more frequently. “If possible, activities like this should not be just once a year, the more often the better,” he said. The Jakarta Kreatif Festival 2026 is the result of a collaboration between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), banks, and creative economy players. This festival is aimed at strengthening the creative economy ecosystem as well as driving Jakarta’s economic growth, which in the first quarter of 2026 was recorded at 5.59%.
