Pramono: Waste Sorting Programme to Reduce Burden on TPST Bantargebang
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the waste sorting programme from the source is expected to reduce the burden of waste disposal at the Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST) Bantargebang.
“Officially, the Jakarta Government is holding waste sorting activities in accordance with the governor’s instructions. And this activity is not half-hearted because it is running simultaneously in five cities and also in the Thousand Islands to carry out waste sorting,” said Pramono in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to him, when the waste sorting programme runs effectively, the waste problems that have occurred in Jakarta so far can be handled quickly because if organic and inorganic waste is separated, it can certainly reduce the waste disposal burden to TPST Bantargebang and the waste sent later will only be the residue.
“I am convinced that if this can run successfully. Jakarta will only landfill its residue, not like now. Now everything is transported to Bantargebang. Now we start by sorting first, organic and inorganic separated,” he said.
Currently, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has waste processing besides Bantargebang, namely at RDF Rorotan as well as several TPS3R owned by Jakarta.
“That is what will become the waste containers. Hopefully with this method, Jakarta’s waste problems can soon be resolved and handled,” said Pramono.
In addition, the DKI Provincial Government is also providing permission space for markets in Jakarta to manage their own waste, like what is done at Kramat Jati Market.
“Jakarta as a global cultured city, of course we will welcome that. But no less important is keeping Jakarta clean, especially from waste. Keep Jakarta: clean, sort waste will become a massive movement in Jakarta,” he said.
