“If facilities are still withdrawn from students after being made free, the DKI Jakarta government will take firm decisions on that,” said Pramono in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026). Pramono stated that the implementation of the free school programme cannot be carried out solely by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, but must be done together with the DKI Jakarta DPRD. Therefore, he said he would soon meet with the relevant commission in the DPRD to discuss the programme officially. “The authorised commission in the DPRD will soon be received by me officially. Because providing free school facilities is not possible alone by the DKI Jakarta government. So it must be together with the DPRD,” he said. According to Pramono, discussions with the DPRD will also determine the addition of the number of schools or quotas for free school programme recipients next year. “For next year, how many will be added will certainly also be a joint decision,” he added.
