Jakarta, Indonesia — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has cautioned community organisations (ormas) against coercing business owners to provide holiday bonuses (THR) in advance of Eid al-Fitr.

According to Pramono, the provision of holiday bonuses should not be accompanied by any element of coercion in order to maintain a conducive business climate in Jakarta.

“Hopefully, once again, there is no coercion from any community organisations or anyone else demanding THR,” said Pramono during a visit to East Jakarta on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

He also advised business owners to respond prudently to requests for holiday bonuses from external parties. According to him, maintaining a conducive atmosphere is critical to ensure that economic activity in the capital continues to operate smoothly.

“For entrepreneurs, if I may suggest, as Jakarta is particularly important for us to maintain a life that is already running well,” he said.

Pramono added that the local government is determined to ensure that the atmosphere leading up to Eid al-Fitr remains safe and comfortable, both for the public and for business actors in Jakarta.

Additionally, the Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing a number of activities to celebrate Ramadan and welcome Eid al-Fitr. A Hijab Fashion Show will be held on 12 March 2026 in the Tanah Abang area. Subsequently, on 19 March, a Bedug Festival will be held in the evening, followed by a torch parade.
