Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has promised to complete the construction of the road connecting Pasar Minggu with Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta, which runs parallel to the railway tracks. According to him, the project has remained unfinished for many years, spanning several gubernatorial terms.

Pramono made this statement after inspecting the construction of the Latumenten flyover in West Jakarta on Thursday (2/7/2026). He stated that the railway-parallel road project in Pasar Minggu is now one of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s priorities.

“I have been repeatedly given input regarding the road parallel to the railway tracks. The road parallel to the tracks in Pasar Minggu, passing through the BIN area, has not been completed through seven governors,” said Pramono.

Pramono noted that after several major issues—such as the Sumber Waras land dispute, the redevelopment of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) area, and projects on Jalan Rasuna Said—have begun to be resolved, the Jakarta Provincial Government is now focusing its attention on the railway-parallel road project.

“Because once Rasuna Said was completed, and Alhamdulillah, Sumber Waras is finished, and JIS is now in a better state, I am now being mentioned regarding this. Therefore, in a meeting two to three months ago, I decided this must become a priority for completion because it has remained unfinished for seven governors,” he said.

Pramono hopes that the construction of the road can reduce congestion in the Pasar Minggu area, particularly on the stretches of road running alongside the railway tracks up to the BIN area.

“Hopefully, with its completion, the congestion on the road parallel to Pasar Minggu and also in the BIN area will decrease,” he added.

Responding to this, the Head of the Jakarta Highways Department, Heru Suwondo, stated that the land acquisition process is targeted to be completed this year. Following that, physical construction is expected to commence in 2027.

“For land acquisition, God willing, it will be this year; the physical construction will be next year,” said Heru.

It is known that the construction of the Pasar Minggu railway-parallel access road aims to serve as a through-road to reduce congestion on Jalan Raya Pasar Minggu, particularly during morning and evening peak hours.

The project aims to eliminate U-turns that cross railway tracks, in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation’s Directorate General of Railways Decree Number: A.576/KS/DJKA/X/2017 dated 27 October 2017 regarding the Handling and Closure of Level Crossings in the Jakarta Region.

In 2023, the Jakarta Provincial Government planned to connect ‘missing link’ roads to ease congestion. The Head of the Jakarta Highways Department, Hari Nugroho, stated that they had inventoried 10 locations where roads would be connected.

On Thursday (5/1/2023), Hari explained that land acquisition for four central roads was in progress. These included Jalan Waru, Jalan Seno-Masjid Al Makmur, the Bangun Cipta Sarana through-road, and the access road to Rusun Rawa Bebek.

Ten roads were included in the previous plan. These ten roads are located in South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta. However, Hari noted that not all locations require land acquisition, meaning construction phases could begin immediately.

The list includes:

  1. Air Maya Through-road, Kebayoran Lama

  2. Penggilingan-Rajiman-Pulogadung Through-road

  3. East Kelapa Gading-Pulogadung Terminal Through-road

  4. Boulevard-Pegangsaan Dua Through-road

  5. Penggilingan-Cakung Cilincing Toll Road Through-road (parallel to high voltage lines)

  6. Dr Satrio-Perbanas Through-road

  7. Jalan Waru

  8. Jalan Seno-Masjid Al Makmur

  9. Bangun Cipta Sarana Through-road (connecting Rusun Kelapa Gading to Boulevard Kelapa Gading)

  10. Access road to Rusun Rawa Bebek
