Pramono Vows Firm Action on Senen Bullying Case

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has highlighted a bullying case involving a six-year-old child in the Senen area of Central Jakarta, stressing that he will not tolerate acts of bullying in the capital and demanding firm action against the perpetrators. “Regarding the bullying that occurred in Senen, because it was caught on CCTV, I have asked for it to be followed up. Whoever commits bullying in Jakarta, we will take the firmest possible action,” Pramono said in West Jakarta on Thursday (11/6/2026). Pramono stated that sanctions would also apply if the perpetrator is a student receiving educational assistance from the Jakarta provincial government. He said such aid could be revoked as a form of guidance and disciplinary enforcement. “If, for example, the perpetrator is a student holding a Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) or a Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU), we will withdraw their KJP or KJMU,” he added. He has instructed relevant agencies to take preventive and supervisory measures to avoid similar incidents. The Education Agency and Satpol PP have been asked to monitor locations prone to bullying. “I have conveyed this to the relevant agencies, especially the Education Agency, including Satpol PP and others, regarding spaces where such bullying occurs. The Jakarta provincial government gives zero tolerance,” he stressed. Pramono emphasised that the Jakarta administration is committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment for all residents, particularly children and students. Therefore, any form of bullying will be dealt with according to the rules. “Whoever commits bullying in Jakarta, we will take the firmest possible action,” he reiterated. Previously, a circulating video showed the victim playing with several other children before two teenagers suddenly arrived and dragged him to an electric pole. The child was then electrocuted until he lost consciousness, after which the two perpetrators immediately fled. The other children who had been playing with the victim then gathered around him. The perpetrators returned to the scene some time later, pulled the victim away from the electric pole, and moved him to a seat before fleeing again. The victim’s grandmother, Linda Reselin, explained that the child had to be hospitalised following the incident. She said the victim was forced to approach the electric pole until he was electrocuted. “Now my grandchild is conscious, but he is still afraid when meeting people,” Linda said, as quoted from Antara on Thursday (11/6).
