Pramono said this in response to ongoing illegal parking in the Blok M area. A resident was reportedly subjected to extortionate parking charges up to three times in a single day.

“This is the job of the new Kadishub in front of you all. One of its main tasks is to resolve the illegal parking problem in Blok M,” Pramono said in the Kebayoran Baru area of South Jakarta on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

Pramono opened a channel for residents to report if the illegal parking problem remains unresolved.

“So, if it can’t be resolved, lodge a complaint to Mr Budi, directly to Mr Budi,” he said, while pointing at the Jakarta DKI Transportation Department head who was present at the scene.

The issue of illegal parking in Blok M has recently drawn renewed attention. The area, a hub of dining and transport in South Jakarta, is frequently criticised by residents for the proliferation of illegal parking attendants who set tariffs beyond the rules.

The Jakarta DPRD Parking Affairs Working Committee also carried out a surprise inspection in the Blok M area, South Jakarta. The committee directly checked illegal parking practices that were deemed alarming and detrimental to the public.

Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, the chair of the Jakarta DPRD’s Parking Affairs Working Committee, personally led the checks on site. The inspection was conducted in collaboration with the Jakarta Dinas Perhubungan, the Badan Pendapatan Daerah (Bapenda) of DKI Jakarta, and Polda Metro Jaya.

The committee had briefly sealed off the illegal parking area. The sealed area was in Blok M Square, specifically Jalan Melawai 5, South Jakarta.

“Today we are carrying out an oversight function as a concrete step to ensure that illegal parking violations are sealed off in accordance with the regulations. We want to protect public rights and local revenue, and safeguard against potential losses to the region’s original revenue,” Jupiter said at Blok M Square, South Jakarta, on Monday, 11 May.
