Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has highlighted widespread violations of vehicles travelling in the wrong direction at several points in Jakarta. He asked the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) to coordinate with the police to take firm action against violators.

‘For anyone who breaks the rules, I have asked Satpol PP to take firm action and to coordinate with the police. So wherever there is a vehicle going the wrong way, take firm action,’ Pramono said at City Hall, Jakarta, on Thursday (5 March 2026).

He said violations of going against the flow disrupt order and endanger other road users. He believes there needs to be concrete steps so that traffic regulations are obeyed.

‘Indeed now the procedure for issuing fines and so on is not like before. So many violators can only receive warnings,’ he said.

He said enforcement must be carried out consistently. Pramono asked Satpol PP to coordinate with the police so that action can be effective.

‘I’ve asked Satpol PP to coordinate with the police to take firm action because this is already disturbing,’ he said.
