JAKARTA — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged residents planning to return to their hometowns during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah to notify their local RT (neighbourhood association) and RW (community association) heads before departing.

The appeal was made to ensure environmental security remains protected whilst homeowners are in their hometowns. “So that if anything happens, there is someone to watch over it and take responsibility,” Pramono said when met at Pura Segara in Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Sunday (15 March 2026). “Thus, if anything occurs, someone is responsible for the property,” he added.

Pramono also stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has coordinated with the central government and security personnel to support a smooth mudik exodus from the capital. “We have arranged several mudik departure points, some from the Monas, from Pulo Gebang Terminal, and various stations or bus terminals that have been prepared for this,” he said.

Meanwhile, for Jakarta residents not travelling, Pramono announced that Pemprov DKI has prepared special programmes. “On Eid al-Fitr for two days, we will provide free public transport throughout Jakarta,” he stated. Additionally, the Jakarta Provincial Government will offer tax incentives for shopping centres and hotels. “The discounts should hopefully reach sixty to seventy percent in Jakarta,” he added.
