Pramono Urges Political Parties to Serve the People

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has urged all political parties in Jakarta to prioritise the interests of the public above personal or group interests. Pramono stated that political parties have a strategic role as government partners in delivering policies that favour the community. Therefore, he continued, good communication and cooperation among stakeholders are crucial assets in addressing the city’s various development challenges. “Today’s inauguration is not merely a change in organisational leadership, but also a momentum to strengthen service to the citizens of Jakarta,” Pramono said during the inauguration of the Regional Executive Board and Regional Leadership Council of the National Mandate Party for Jakarta Province for the 2024–2029 term at Balai Sarbini, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (27/6). He asserted that Jakarta’s development can only run optimally if all elements of society, including political parties, work together and prioritise the common interest. “The Jakarta Provincial Government always opens space for all political forces, without discriminating based on background or political choice, to synergise and work together so that Jakarta grows as a global city that is inclusive, sustainable, and beneficial to its residents,” Pramono added. Pramono noted that during his leadership of Jakarta, he has consistently invited all elements of the Regional House of Representatives and political parties to go directly into the field to observe the community’s needs. According to him, this approach is important so that development is not influenced by political differences, but is instead oriented towards public service and the interests of citizens. “We must continue to nurture a healthy democratic climate, maintain social conduciveness, strengthen unity, and actively contribute to addressing the various development challenges of Jakarta as it prepares to approach its fifth centenary,” Pramono explained. Furthermore, Pramono affirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to prioritise programmes that have a direct impact on public welfare, particularly in education, health, and social protection. “Support from all elements, including political parties, is essential for these programmes to run sustainably,” he said.
