Pramono urges political parties to prioritise public interest
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has encouraged all political parties in Jakarta to prioritise the interests of the public over personal or group interests. He stated that political parties have a strategic role as partners to the government in delivering policies that favour the community. Therefore, good communication and cooperation among stakeholders are key assets in addressing the city’s development challenges.
“Today’s inauguration is not merely a change in organisational leadership, but also a momentum to strengthen service to the citizens of Jakarta,” Pramono said while attending the inauguration of the Regional Executive Board and Regional Board of the National Mandate Party for the 2024–2029 term at Balai Sarbini, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.
He asserted that Jakarta’s development can only run optimally if all elements of society, including political parties, work together and put shared interests first. “The Jakarta Provincial Government always opens its doors to all political forces, regardless of background or political choice, to synergise and work together so that Jakarta grows as an inclusive, sustainable global city that benefits its residents,” Pramono continued.
Pramono added that during his leadership, he has consistently invited all elements of the Regional House of Representatives and political parties to go directly into the field to observe the needs of the community. According to him, this approach is important so that development is not influenced by political differences, but is oriented towards public service and the interests of citizens.
“We must continue to nurture a healthy democratic climate, maintain social stability, strengthen unity, and actively contribute to addressing the development challenges of Jakarta as it prepares to approach its fifth centenary,” Pramono explained. He further stressed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to prioritise programmes that have a direct impact on public welfare, especially in the fields of education, health, and social protection. “Support from all elements, including political parties, is crucial to ensure these programmes can run sustainably,” he said.
