Jakarta – The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has urged residents who plan to mudik Lebaran to report to their local neighbourhood administrators (RT and RW) before leaving their homes, in order to safeguard the community during the exodus and deter burglaries in unattended houses. ‘We are asking mudik-goers to report to the RT, RW beforehand,’ Pramono said when approached at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) in Central Jakarta on Saturday, March 7, 2026. He noted that when burglaries occur, authorities at the community level are often blamed. ‘Don’t let homes be left unreported, and then a burglary occurs; the government at the RT, RW or kelurahan level should not be blamed,’ he said. In addition to urging residents to report, Pramono also assured that public services in Jakarta would continue normally during Lebaran. Although the government plans to implement a flexible working system or ‘work from everywhere’ for some employees, public services would remain a priority. ‘Public services in Jakarta will not change; they will continue as usual. Even though from next week there will be work from everywhere, we have prepared Jakarta’s public services so there will be no changes at all,’ Pramono stated.
