The Governor of DKI Jakarta delivered a mandate during the 499th anniversary ceremony of Jakarta at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Monday (22/6/2026). Pramono initially stated that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government remains committed to working responsively and adaptively so that residents can carry out their activities. “At the same time, ensuring this city continues to stride towards its future. Welcoming a new chapter for Jakarta, a number of strategic agendas are being carried out to prepare for a civilisational leap that is more connected, intelligent, and equitable,” he explained. “Starting from preparations for the operation of LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai, the construction of MRT Phase 2A, to the development of a pedestrian deck in the Dukuh Atas TOD area which has been integrated,” he added. Pramono further stated that area revitalisation is being carried out at various points such as Kota Tua, Blok M, Pasar Baru, Glodok, and Pecinan. This is intended as a new initiative to stimulate economic and tourism activity, and to become interaction spaces for residents. Pramono then conveyed that Jakarta’s anniversary is not merely an annual celebration but a cross-generational endeavour to realise Jakarta as a global and cultured city. “Ladies and gentlemen, and honoured guests. Pramono then gave a message to Jakarta residents not to lose optimism for Jakarta, because Jakarta teaches us to always rise without leaving its citizens behind. “To all Jakarta residents, I urge you, never lose optimism for this city. Because history has taught us that Jakarta always rises without leaving its citizens behind,” he said. Pramono also thanked residents for being an important part of every development and transformation. “Thank you for being an important part of every development and transformation of this city. Let us make the 499th anniversary of Jakarta a momentum to strengthen collaboration, maintain unity, and foster optimism towards 500 years of a world-class Jakarta,” he concluded.
