Pramono Urges Jakarta Residents to Exercise Caution Amid Middle East Conflicts
Jakarta — The Governor of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKI Jakarta), Pramono Anung, has urged all parties in Jakarta to exercise caution as he assesses the global situation as unsettled. He also referred to several conflicts ongoing across the world.
‘But indeed in a world like this, when wars are breaking out everywhere — Ukraine, Russia, now in the Middle East Israel with the United States and also with Iran — in my view we must be full of caution,’ Pramono said when he was interviewed in the Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) area in Central Jakarta on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
The unsettled conditions, he said, often make people worry about its impact on economic stability and the availability of staple foods.
Nevertheless, Pramono confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government has made various preparations to face Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, particularly in safeguarding the availability of essential goods.
Pramono stressed that food stocks in Jakarta are currently safe, even more than sufficient.
‘Stock in Jakarta is safe, more than enough. Hopefully there will not be a significant increase. I believe this is because stocks are indeed in surplus,’ Pramono said.
