Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has urged residents to actively participate in the economic census conducted by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and to provide accurate information. He assured the public that data confidentiality is guaranteed, so they need not worry. “Data confidentiality is guaranteed. Therefore, they should not hesitate to report and convey information about themselves and their families as it is. Because this will become a portrait of the economy and the census results in Jakarta,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday. Pramono admitted that BPS data has always been used in decision-making in Jakarta. For him, data is the primary reference in making decisions. For example, BPS data is utilised to determine recipients of social assistance, the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU). Additionally, BPS data on slum areas also helps the Jakarta provincial government formulate regional planning policies. Furthermore, Pramono reminded that as a global city and the nation’s economic centre, Jakarta’s challenges are increasingly complex. Therefore, he considers the 2026 Economic Census to be of significant and strategic importance for Jakarta. He urged all Jakarta residents to participate in the census properly and provide honest information. “Because this is the key to our future decision-making. Do not be secretive, it is better to be open. If you are struggling, say so; if you are happy, say so; if you are rich, say so; if you are poor, say so,” said Pramono.
