Pramono Urges Jakarta Residents to Be Open During 2026 Economic Census

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged residents to be forthcoming when asked for data by 2026 Economic Census officers. He stated that the government requires data accuracy as a reference for making regulatory policies in developing the city of Jakarta.

“For me, this data is the primary reference for making technocratic decisions,” Pramono said in his speech at the Declaration of the 2026 DKI Jakarta Province Economic Census at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Monday, 13 July 2026.

Pramono said the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data is always used as a reference in decision-making. He invited residents to be open and not conceal their economic conditions.

“If it’s difficult, say it’s difficult; if it’s happy, say it’s happy; if you’re rich, say you’re rich; if you’re poor, say you’re poor. Usually, if our people are rich, do they claim to be poor? Or if they are poor, do they claim to be rich?” Pramono said.

Pramono explained there are three main sectors requiring accurate BPS data regarding the economy. These relate to social assistance, education, and health. “This data is very important for Jakarta because there are three things I always say must not be reduced,” he said.

On the occasion, Pramono also urged the DKI Jakarta Government ranks, from sub-district, urban village, city, to regency levels, to educate the public about this economic census. “Because the key is, if this census is to be successful, the community must be educated and must be open to conveying things as they are,” he said.

Pramono hopes the collected data will be accurate, so it can reflect the actual situation of Jakarta’s residents.

The 2026 Economic Census began on 1 May and will run until 31 August. This census is conducted every 10 years to capture the economic conditions and businesses of the Indonesian population.
