Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged the DKI Jakarta provincial government apparatus to prepare for two major pressures that could potentially affect the city. He identified these factors as the war between the United States (US) and Israel with Iran, and the El Niño phenomenon.

This was stated by Pramono when opening the Deliberation on Development Planning (Musrenbang) for the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) 2027 at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (16/4/2026).

“Now there are two major pressures that will be experienced together. The first is the conflict or war occurring between America, Israel, and Iran, which has spread everywhere, and El Niño,” said Pramono.

He assessed that this global conflict has the potential to cause impacts on Jakarta, including rises in fuel oil (BBM) prices, disruptions to the supply chain, and pressures on the economy.

“This will affect BBM prices, the supply chain, and various existing issues. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Government must take short-term steps to address this,” he said.

Pramono also mentioned that El Niño, expected to occur from mid-April to September 2026, could influence Jakarta. He stated that Jakarta must prepare because it makes a significant contribution to the national economy.

“Jakarta contributes 16.61% to the GDP. Therefore, managing Jakarta must not be mistaken,” he said.
