Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has urged the ranks of Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to enhance their competitiveness so as not to be dominant only in the domestic market. To that end, he wants entities owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to start boldly expanding to a broader level. “Not becoming local players, but competing outwards, including, for example, Bank Jakarta, Pasar Jaya, Dharma Jaya, and others, and I am confident that this will also bring benefits to Jakarta,” Pramono said at the BUMD Leaders Forum 2026 “Synergy For Resilience” event titled Strengthening the Role of BUMD as a Pillar of the Economy in the Jakarta Global City Ecosystem, at Candi Bentar Hall, Putri Duyung Ancol, North Jakarta, on Friday (17/4). Amid ambitions to strengthen their role as a pillar of the Jakarta Global City economy, he also reminded of the real external challenges. He highlighted the uncertain global geopolitical situation and the threat of the El Niño phenomenon predicted to strike during the April to September 2026 period. “Therefore, I also ask them to prepare themselves. Thus, hopefully, BUMD consolidation will build a more open, transparent corporate culture, managed professionally,” Pramono stated. In his remarks, he was optimistic that professional management could make Jakarta’s BUMD far more resilient in facing various economic pressures in the future. The BUMD Leaders 2026 event featured three strategic discussion topics. The first is accelerating investment performance and financial independence through creative financing and financing synergies. “For the first quarter of 2026, Alhamdulillah, a credit facility from Bank Jakarta has been signed for three BUMD, namely PT Bank Jakarta, PT Perumda Dharma Jaya, and Food Station Tjipinang,” said Syaefuloh. The second topic is optimising investment performance and business development through synergies in guaranteeing strategic projects, with key discussion outcomes including guarantees for BUMD projects by PT Jamkrida Jakarta and optimisation of Bank Jakarta credit guarantees through PT Jamkrida Jakarta. The third topic is increasing the productivity of strategic assets as an investment driver and generator of new revenue streams, including developments in hotel properties, mixed-use housing, park and ride facilities, as well as infrastructure such as wastewater treatment, food distribution and processing.
