Pramono Undecided: Will the LRT Project Continue from Manggarai-Dukuh Atas or Extend to Ancol-PIK 2?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Governor Pramono Anung is still considering the continuation of the Jakarta LRT project, deciding between completing the Manggarai-Dukuh Atas line or building a new route towards Ancol and PIK 2.

This was conveyed by Pramono during the inauguration of the Tian Fu Gong temple area on Sunday (17/5/2026).

“I will soon decide whether to complete the project from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas or continue the route that has already received approval from the Central Government, with only the segment from Ancol to PIK 2 still pending,” said Pramono on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the extension segment from Ancol to PIK 2 still needs further processing.

According to Pramono, extending the line towards the northern part of Jakarta is important to strengthen public transportation connectivity in the capital.

“Earlier, I whispered to the CEO of Agung Sedayu that perhaps it’s time to open the LRT from Velodrome to this location (PIK 2),” he said.

The 12.2-kilometer route will have 11 stations, with an investment value reaching IDR 11.5 trillion.

He hopes the project can be inaugurated in August.

After that, the DKI Provincial Government will determine the next direction of development, whether to continue the line towards Dukuh Atas or extend it to North Jakarta to PIK 2 and Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Moreover, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) area is now also served by the KRL Commuter Line.

“If there is an LRT from Ancol to PIK 2, and currently there is a KRL at JIS, and in the coming weeks I will inaugurate it, then connectivity in Jakarta will become even better,” he said.

Therefore, he wants to complete transportation routes that have not yet been connected, especially in the northern part of Jakarta.

“If this can be connected, then this Jakarta loop’s transportation will be connected throughout,” said Pramono.
