Pramono to Tighten CCTV Installation Across All Jakarta Parks Following Cawang Discovery

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has instructed the City Police to follow up on reports regarding Taman Kota in the Cawang area, East Jakarta, which is alleged to be used for illicit same-sex activities. He emphasised that public spaces in Jakarta must be maintained to remain safe and function as intended.

“If that information is indeed correct, I will immediately follow up on it. I will ask the City Police to clean it up. Jakarta cannot have spaces like that,” Pramono told reporters at Pondok Pesantren Al Hamid Putra, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Saturday (28 February 2026).

Pramono added that enforcement would not be limited to a single location but would extend to other parks across Jakarta, including those operating 24 hours a day. The Jakarta provincial government will tighten supervision to ensure public facilities are used appropriately.

“We will address all of them. Including, we will install CCTV for that,” he said.

Previously, Taman Kota Cawang, East Jakarta, was suspected to be a location where several men engaged in illicit activities. Items allegedly used in these practices were discovered within the park.

These items were discovered during an on-site visit on Saturday (28 February). Initially, a package of condoms in red colour was found near a large tree within the park.

Subsequently, used lubricant gel packets were also discovered. Various packets of wet tissue branded Magicmax were also found.

Used condoms that had been disposed of carelessly on the ground were also discovered. Meanwhile, between broken tree branches, two bottles of alcohol with remaining contents were found with their caps already removed.

Finally, packaging for sexual enhancement drinks or supplements was found. All these items were scattered throughout Taman Kota Cawang, which is suspected to be the location where several men engaged in illicit activities.
