Pramono to Revoke KJP for Bullies in Central Jakarta

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will impose sanctions by revoking assistance facilities, including the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU), from perpetrators involved in a case concerning a six-year-old child in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. The child is suspected to have been a victim of bullying that resulted in electrocution and loss of consciousness. “Whoever commits bullying in Jakarta, we will take the firmest action. If the resident is, for example, a student holding a Jakarta Smart Card or a Jakarta Excellent Student Card, we will withdraw their KJP or KJMU,” Pramono stated in Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Thursday. In addition, Pramono has instructed the Education Agency, Satpol PP, and related agencies to strengthen supervision in areas that could potentially become locations for bullying. He stressed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will not provide any space or tolerance for bullying in any form. Previously, a six-year-old child with the initials MWP was suspected of being a victim of bullying that led to an electric shock incident at Kramat Pulo Park, Kramat Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta, on Sunday night. According to the family, the incident began when the victim was playing in the park from late afternoon into the evening. However, the victim was allegedly dragged by two teenagers towards a pole in the park area that turned out to have an electrical current leak. The victim’s grandmother, Linda, stated she learned of the incident after receiving news from her child about her grandchild’s condition. Feeling suspicious about the cause, Linda later visited the park and reviewed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage installed at the location. “It turned out the recording showed it. My grandchild was dragged and taken to a pole which apparently had an electric current, causing my grandchild to be electrocuted,” she recounted. As a result of the incident, the victim not only suffered an electric shock but also sustained a blow to the back of the head after being slammed. While unconscious, the victim was even suspected of receiving inhumane treatment. The victim was in a coma and is currently still undergoing intensive care at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). The family has reported the case to the Central Jakarta Metro Police and hopes the legal process can proceed swiftly.
