Pramono to Inspect Kramat Jati Market Tomorrow After Trader Clearance

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the revitalisation of Kramat Jati Market in East Jakarta has been completed. Pramono plans to inspect the market directly tomorrow after a number of roadside traders were cleared.

Pramono said the revitalisation of Kramat Jati Market is one of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to improve market conditions and organise trader activities. He said the revitalisation has now been completed.

“Including tomorrow, the revitalisation and relocation that has been completed is at Kramat Jati. So tomorrow night I will go there,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday (31/8/2026).

He expressed hope that the revitalisation process will make the market conditions more orderly. One of the changes highlighted by Pramono is that fish traders who previously sold along the road have now been moved into the market.

“Hopefully friends can come and see Kramat Jati, which for so long was not resolved. Alhamdulillah, now the fish traders who used to be along the road can now go inside,” he said.

According to Pramono, the arrangement has made the Kramat Jati Market area better.

“And that is what then makes Kramat Jati better,” he continued.

Previously, the slippery road in front of Kramat Jati Market in East Jakarta caused fatalities. In less than a month, two fatal accidents occurred on the southbound section of Jalan Raya Bogor.

On Thursday (30/7), a man with the initials SM (52) died and his passenger, SYD (43), was injured after being involved in an accident with a lorry. The accident occurred on Jalan Raya Bogor, precisely in front of the entrance to Kramat Jati Market at around 1.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.

Most recently, on Monday (17/8) at 6.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, a student with the initials HH fell from his motorbike, allegedly due to the slippery surface of Jalan Raya Bogor. The student from MAN 6 East Jakarta was on his way to attend the 81st Indonesian Independence Day ceremony.

“At the same time, a dump truck belonging to the Sanitation Department with registration number B-9728-TOQ driven by AS was passing, and the victim was run over and died at the scene,” said the Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, on Monday (17/8).
