Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is preparing a capital injection for PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta). This additional capital is intended for Transjakarta’s plan to expand its services to the Thousand Islands.

“Transjakarta’s capital needs to be increased. Because with its current duties for both Transjakarta itself and Transjabodetabek, and the fact that it will receive additional duties for the maritime section of the Thousand Islands, the size of Transjakarta’s capital must certainly be enlarged,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

Pramono stated that the exact amount of the capital increase is still being calculated. He noted that, until now, the budget for transportation to the Thousand Islands has been allocated through the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub).

Moving forward, the management of this transportation will be handled by Transjakarta. Pramono hopes that the management of transport services will become more professional.

“Regarding the specific figure for the Transjakarta capital increase for the new assignment to the Thousand Islands, it is currently being calculated,” he said.

“But what is clear is that I believe that while this budget was previously allocated through the Transportation Agency, it will now be managed by Transjakarta, and I am certain the management will be more professional,” he added.

Pramono explained that the facilities being prepared relate to the transportation needs for the Thousand Islands. Several islands have been identified as potential main terminals.

“So, the facilities will certainly prepare what is needed for transportation to the Thousand Islands,” he explained.

“In the Thousand Islands, we already know several islands that will serve as main terminals, for example: Tidung Island, Pari Island, and so on, Pramuka Island, and so forth,” he continued.

Pramono also mentioned that the fare scheme for Thousand Islands residents will be calculated. He noted that residents of the Thousand Islands have historically been part of a community group that receives certain transportation facilities from the Jakarta Provincial Government.

According to him, if all transportation services to the Thousand Islands were made free for local residents, the entire budgetary burden would be borne by the Jakarta Provincial Government.

“Therefore, with this arrangement, it is hoped that for the residents of the Thousand Islands, who have previously used land transportation or were included in 15 specific categories, there will certainly be adjustments,” he said.

“Because if there is transportation to the Thousand Islands and it is free for all residents of the Thousand Islands, the entire burden will fall on the Jakarta Provincial Government. Therefore, we will conduct calculations for this,” he added.
