Pramono to Inaugurate Rasuna Said Road After Monorail Poles Cleared on 22 June
That was stated by Pramono while attending the ‘Halalbihalal Paguyuban Jawa Tengah 2026’ event at the East Jakarta Mayor’s office on Sunday (12/4/2026). Initially, Pramono explained the completion of the arrangement of 109 monorail poles on Jalan Rasuna Said.
“One more thing from Bang Yos that was conveyed to me regarding the monorail. That’s why, specifically when we tidy up, cut down, and remove the monorail poles numbering 109, I handed it over to Bang Yos,” Pramono said in his speech at the East Jakarta Mayor’s office on Sunday (12/4).
Pramono mentioned the numerous legacies from former DKI Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso’s period from 1997-2007, one of which was the monorail. However, the project stalled due to the central government’s policy at that time.
“Why? I’m sure Bang Yos has many legacies, especially in infrastructure and transportation sectors, but this monorail must have been a burden for him. Because of the policy changes in the central government, not because of Bang Yos, due to the policy changes in the central government,” he explained.
He stated that he would inaugurate Jalan Rasuna Said, now free from monorail poles, on 22 June 2026. Pramono will invite Sutiyoso to jointly inaugurate Jalan Rasuna Said.
“Ladies and gentlemen, now the monorail will be gone; on 22 June tomorrow, I will inaugurate it and I will invite Bang Yos, our Jalan Rasuna Said Kuningan, its pedestrian path will definitely be like Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin,” he said.
Pramono described this as a new showcase in Jakarta’s development.
“And that becomes the new showcase that Jakarta now, in building, I’m not someone who… there’s a lot on social media and such, no, I’m just a worker. And it’s completed,” he said.
As is known, the monorail project in Jakarta has been stalled for years, leaving concrete poles in the middle of the road. The presence of those poles has often been complained about because they are considered to disrupt the view and urban layout.
With the completion of the pole cutting, the DKI Provincial Government is now focusing on comprehensive improvements so that the Rasuna Said corridor becomes a more comfortable and representative area.
