Pramono to Inaugurate JIS Station This Week
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) station will be officially inaugurated following the successful connection of the KRL Commuter Line, which now stops directly within the stadium complex in North Jakarta. βThe KRL is now operational at JIS and is already stopping there; I will officially inaugurate it within the coming weeks,β Pramono stated in West Jakarta on Monday (18/05/2026).
With the introduction of this service, the JIS Station is expected to streamline access to the international-standard stadium, which has frequently faced heavy traffic congestion during large-scale events such as football matches and music concerts. Furthermore, Pramono mentioned that he is considering the development of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) line connecting the Ancol area to Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), as part of an initiative to strengthen mobility in the rapidly developing northern region of Jakarta. He emphasised that the expansion of the transport network is essential for enhancing intermodal integration across the city.
