Pramono to Fulfill Prabowo's Mandate
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has emphasised his readiness to follow up on President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions to green Jakarta.
“During the journey, there was an order from the President that we will follow up on. Coincidentally, almost all Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD) are present here. For vertical gardens and greening Jakarta, this will be our primary programme and will be addressed immediately,” said Pramode during his speech at the inauguration of the Jakarta LRT at Manggarai Station, Wednesday (16/9).
On that occasion, President Prabowo stated that within the next one to two weeks, he will launch the ‘Indonesia ASRI’ movement. “I would like to convey that after this, perhaps in one or two weeks, I will convene with all Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) across Indonesia to launch the Indonesia ASRI movement, which stands for Indonesia: Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful. We must realise this,” said Prabowo.
To this end, Prabowo requested that Jakarta lead the implementation of this movement. He also envisions Jakarta becoming a green city, nicknamed ‘the garden city’. One of the greening steps desired by Prabowo is the development of vertical gardens on existing buildings in Jakarta.
“All large buildings, if possible, should have vertical gardens. Ideally, this should be an initiative from building owners. If they face difficulties, the local government will step in. If the local government deems it necessary, the central government will intervene,” Prabowo asserted.
Although Indonesia’s capital remains in Jakarta, Prabowo hopes the movement will eventually be applied to all provinces and regencies across Indonesia. Beyond greening, Prabowo also wants waste issues resolved to achieve a safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful Indonesia.
“We must change. Indonesia must transform. Eliminate waste, clean the rivers, using technology and so on. The Governor has reported that many water ponds are now clean and he plans to build jogging tracks and parks. I strongly support this,” Prabowo stated.
The President added that differences in political party backgrounds do not prevent him from appreciating regional heads who are deemed to have good performance. As Jakarta approaches its five-hundredth anniversary, his administration will continue to strengthen Jakarta’s transformation into a competitive global city.
