Pramono to Develop Solar Panels to Reduce Dependence on Fuel Oil in Jakarta
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is developing the use of alternative energy through the installation of solar panels to reduce dependence on fossil energy or oil-based fuels (BBM). Pramono said that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are directly impacting the global energy supply chain, including potential disruptions to BBM supplies. “This relates to efficiency and also alternative energy. Jakarta is currently developing one of them, which is solar panels,” Pramono said during a press conference on the realisation of the APBD for the first quarter of 2026 at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (17/4/2026). “We will implement this policy in more detail to provide alternatives to reduce dependence on fossil energy,” he added. In addition to promoting the development of renewable energy, the DKI Provincial Government will also intensify campaigns for the use of public transportation. These efforts are aimed at curbing BBM consumption while reducing the use of private vehicles in the capital. According to Pramono, increasing the use of public transport is one of the keys to energy efficiency in Jakarta. Pramono is confident that public transport connectivity has improved significantly. Thus, the public can switch from private vehicles. “Why is that done? So that people start reducing the use of private vehicles,” he said. “We are carrying out efficiencies, especially those related to the consumption of fossil BBM,” he added.
