Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced plans to build a pedestrian bridge with a ‘love lock’ theme in the HR Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta. The bridge will be constructed on a site formerly occupied by a stalled monorail project, which has now been transformed into a new face for the capital. Pramono conveyed this during the inauguration of the new North Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office building alongside Attorney General ST Burhanuddin in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Tuesday. He stated that the Rasuna Said area, long associated with abandoned monorail pillars, has now been successfully reorganised. He has instructed his staff to add new facilities to the area. ‘I have ordered the Bina Marga team to install two pedestrian bridges over the river, where people can later place love locks. Because love in DKI Jakarta is very important,’ Pramono said. According to Pramono, the bridge construction is part of the broader redevelopment of the Rasuna Said area after the project, which had stalled for decades, was finally completed. He also noted that the successful redevelopment of the former monorail site would not have been possible without the support of the Attorney General’s Office, which assisted the Jakarta Provincial Government in resolving various legal issues. ‘In the past, Jakarta had many unresolved problems. One of them was the monorail on Rasuna Said, which involved 109 pillars over 3.8 kilometres. Alhamdulillah, we have now completed the Rasuna Said road project, and it has become a landmark appreciated by the public,’ he said. Pramono stated that the project had been stalled for 21 years before finally being completed under his leadership. He expressed his gratitude to the Attorney General’s Office and the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office for their support in completing various strategic projects in the city.
