Pramono Tests Completed Manggarai LRT: Inauguration to Follow President's Schedule
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that construction of the Velodrome-Manggarai phase of the Jakarta LRT is 100 per cent complete. The LRT is ready to be inaugurated on 26 August 2026.
Pramono made the remarks while inspecting LRT Jakarta readiness in the Manggarai area of South Jakarta on Monday (24/8/2026). The inspection was carried out ahead of the line’s inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto.
“We have reviewed and received reports that, overall, the construction and completion of this LRT — firstly regarding the tracks and elevated line — is 100 per cent complete,” Pramono said.
Pramono said the Jakarta provincial government has proposed that the inauguration of the Velodrome-Manggarai phase take place on 26 August. However, the timing still depends on President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda.
Pramono noted that the President is currently handling a number of issues, including forest fires and an earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Pramono also took the opportunity to trial the Jakarta LRT journey from Velodrome to Manggarai.
“Regarding the inauguration, we have proposed 26 August. The timing will of course follow President Prabowo Subianto’s schedule,” he said.
He said construction of the Velodrome-Manggarai phase of the Jakarta LRT is now fully complete. The remaining process is testing by the central government through the Ministry of Transportation.
“Secondly, the construction is 100 per cent complete. The final stage now is testing carried out by the central government, in this case the Ministry of Transportation,” he said.
Once inaugurated, the LRT will immediately operate at full capacity for the public. Operations will run from 05.00 to 24.00 WIB.
“Once it is inaugurated by the President, it will operate fully. The schedule will be the same as the KRL schedule, from 05.00 in the morning until 24.00,” Pramono said.
Pramono also estimated that the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT could carry around 60,000 to 80,000 passengers in the initial phase.
According to him, passenger numbers will increase significantly as the LRT’s reach expands and it connects with other transport modes.
“We predict that once it is connected from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai, it will carry approximately 60,000 to 80,000 passengers in the early stages,” he explained.
