Pramono targets Jakarta to become a sought-after global city

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo is targeting Jakarta to become a sought-after global city ahead of its 500th anniversary in 2027. To achieve this, the administration plans to hold various activities to continuously promote Jakarta as a global city that is loved, comfortable, and safe. “We will certainly hold various activities to make Jakarta increasingly a global city, a city that is loved, comfortable, and safe,” Pramono stated in Central Jakarta on Monday. He mentioned several initiatives to welcome Jakarta’s five centuries, including commencing the construction of a pedestrian deck in Dukuh Atas. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also currently renovating Taman Semanggi, and Pramono expressed hope that the park’s revitalisation would be completed soon. “We will continue to carry out measures like these, but most importantly, in the context of these five centuries, Jakarta is preparing itself to provide comfort for its citizens,” Pramono said. Pramono also emphasised that together with Deputy Governor Rano Karno, he is not solely focused on physical development, but also on comfort, security, social care, and mutual cooperation through the ‘Jaga Jakarta’ programme and continuous waste sorting efforts.
