Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will crack down on hotels, restaurants, and cafes involved in irresponsible waste disposal.

“The primary issue regarding waste involves Horeka: hotels, restaurants, and cafes. They utilise private services, many of which are not fully accountable,” Pramono stated at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (3/9).

He emphasised that the waste problem must be addressed comprehensively. This effort includes enforcement against all parties involved in illegal waste accumulation.

“Therefore, our enforcement will not only target those who dump waste in random places, but we will also regulate the Horeka sector,” he explained.

According to reports, the Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) has already imposed administrative sanctions on 11 waste collection service companies found dumping waste at illegal disposal sites.

“Service providers must operate according to their permits, while clients must also ensure that their waste is handed over to legal companies and transported to the proper management facilities,” said the Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency, Dudi Gardesi, on Friday (28/8).

The 11 companies include CV Wira Satria Mandiri, CV Al Ihsaniah, PT Hino Karya Mandiri, CV Super Steel Tiga Bersaudara, PT Cuan International Group, PT Jangjo Teknologi Indonesia, PT Sinar Berdikari Cemerlang Idaman, PT Mapanji Kamila Graha, PT Arie Karya Utama, PT Samhana Indah, and PT Pradana Sukses Prima.

If these companies are found to have committed further violations, the Jakarta Environmental Agency reserves the right to take further action, including the revocation of their operating licences.
