Pramono Surprised by Positive Reception of Inaugural CFD on Rasuna Said

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung assessed that the inaugural Car Free Day (CFD) on Jalan Rasuna Said in South Jakarta proceeded smoothly. Pramono was surprised by the positive reception from the public towards the CFD on Rasuna Said.

“Why is this (CFD) being held? Because of the extraordinary public demand, and earlier I was also surprised, shocked; it’s only the first day for CFD, yet from the morning—coincidentally, I went for a walk earlier—it went well, and the public welcomed it very much,” Pramono told reporters on Jalan Rasuna Said on Sunday (10/5/2026).

Pramono explained that the CFD on Jalan Rasuna Said will run effectively starting from 1 June. The motor vehicle-free day will commence at 05:30 WIB each time it is held.

“The Car Free Day we are holding here, starting from 05:30, is the same as on Sudirman-Thamrin, and it will be implemented effectively from 1 June,” he clarified.

As is known, the CFD at the new location began on Sunday (10/5). The CFD on Jalan HR Rasuna Said does not eliminate the CFD on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.

On Sunday (10/5), residents began arriving before 06:00 WIB. They were seen filling Jalan Rasuna Said on the eastern side in front of Plaza Festival, with communities engaging in group rhythmic gymnastics.

Meanwhile, on the western side, the atmosphere was more relaxed. Visitors to the Rasuna Said CFD were running and walking leisurely. Several members of the public were also seen cycling in the CFD area.

One visitor to the Rasuna Said CFD, Rizka (45), arrived at the location since 07:00 WIB. Rizka said she came from Bekasi to join the new CFD spot in Jakarta.

“From the Bekasi area. I learned about this event from, you know, social media. And also invited by a friend,” she said.
