Pramono Supports Crackdown on Online Gambling Headquarters in Hayam Wuruk, Calls for Harsh Punishments for Perpetrators
The first matter concerns online gambling, where the DKI Jakarta Government provides full support for the firm actions taken by law enforcement authorities, particularly the police, to conduct raids and subsequent seizures,” said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (13/5/2026). Pramono hopes that the handling of this online gambling case is not done half-heartedly. He hopes that the perpetrators of online gambling are dealt with firmly to make them deterred. “And hopefully this action is not half-hearted, so that it can create a deterrent effect for anyone who intends to engage in online gambling in Jakarta,” he stated. Pramono assesses that the practice of online gambling has given a very negative impact to society, especially to vulnerable groups who are easily tempted by promises of instant profits. “As we all know, online gambling has already given a very negative impact, especially to residents who are uneducated, poor, and they are attracted to something that is promised but actually this is very damaging,” he said. When asked about the existence of an online gambling headquarters in an office building in the Hayam Wuruk area which is said to operate secretly, Pramono emphasised that such activities are definitely illegal and do not have permits. “Yes, this is online gambling, and it is definitely underground, and it definitely has no permits, and this action definitely violates the law,” he asserted. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, according to Pramono, fully supports law enforcement authorities if they impose heavy punishments on the online gambling perpetrators. “Thus, the DKI Jakarta Government provides full support if law enforcement authorities then take the harshest possible actions or punishments against these perpetrators,” he added. The Director of General Criminal Acts (Dirtipidum) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, previously stated that the arrest of 321 perpetrators from the online gambling headquarters is a form of commitment to eradicating online gambling. He said that the movement of online gambling is very detrimental to society and the national economy. “We from the Indonesian National Police have a commitment to eradicate criminal acts of gambling. Both online gambling and conventional gambling because this is very detrimental to society and can harm the national economy,” said Wira in a press conference to journalists in Jakarta on Sunday (10/5). Wira warned that Indonesia should not become a den for online gambling. The National Police is committed to eradicating such violations. “Then, no less important, with this disclosure, it is hoped that Indonesia does not become a place for online gambling dens. This is our commitment,” he said.
