Pramono Strictly Regulates WFH for DKI Civil Servants: Bans Working in Cafes, Ensures Public Services Continue

The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI) will implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) every Friday. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasised that this policy will be strictly regulated to avoid disrupting public services. The policy follows central government regulations for efficiency, including fuel savings, but Pemprov DKI ensures its implementation is adjusted to field needs. “For example, mid-level and entry-level officials, as well as those involved in public services such as the Civil Service Police Unit, Transportation Agency, health services, traffic police, and fire department, will continue their duties as usual,” Pramono stated at Jakarta City Hall in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (1/3/2026). Additionally, health facilities including community health centres, auxiliary health centres, and hospitals will operate normally without implementing WFH. According to Pramono, WFH is only intended for ASN whose work is administrative and does not require physical presence. Nevertheless, Pemprov DKI will regulate the proportion of ASN implementing WFH. “A minimum of 25 percent to a maximum of 50 percent, within that range it will be regulated by the Secretary General together with the Head of the Human Resources Agency,” he explained. Pramono also stressed that ASN are not allowed to work from cafes or other public places. He urged ASN to truly work from home as per the provisions. “Regarding working from cafes or anywhere else, if that happens, there will definitely be firm sanction actions,” he said. When asked about the sanctions to be imposed, Pramono responded briefly. “Basically sanctions, if previously they were guided to destruction,” he quipped. Furthermore, ASN implementing WFH are also not permitted to use private vehicles. If travel is necessary, ASN are asked to use public transportation.
