Pramono states Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT fares will be evaluated

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has stated that the fares for the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route will undergo evaluation to ensure that the required subsidies do not become excessive.

“We will conduct an evaluation. We need to determine what figure is appropriate and can be well-accepted by the public, while also ensuring that the subsidy provided by the Jakarta Provincial Government for the LRT is not excessive,” Pramono said at City Hall, Jakarta, on Thursday.

As previously reported, the Jakarta Provincial Government will introduce a special fare of Rp8,000 for the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT before it officially commences operations. According to Pramono, this special rate is intended to socialise the new route with the public and coincides with the final preparations for outstanding works.

Following the official inauguration, Pramono noted that the fare will revert to a flat rate of Rp5,000 until October 2026. After October 2026, the Jakarta Provincial Government will recalculate the fare amount for the route.

“Hopefully, through the socialisation period with the Rp8,000 fare, I am confident that we can attract over 40,000 new daily passengers who have previously not used the LRT route from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai,” Pramono added.

The Jakarta Provincial Government has subsequently decided to reschedule the inauguration of the public transport mode following an evaluation of service readiness. Although the construction of the tracks and rails is reported to be complete, several facilities still require refinement before the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT is fully opened to the public.
